Canadian Down Syndrome Society - Endangered Syndrome

The Down syndrome population is declining so quickly that, in Iceland, it’s predicted to be extinct by 2091. As the population shrinks, so does the community’s resources. In fact, based on internationally recognized criteria, the Down syndrome population should actually qualify to be on the Endangered Species List. So, we applied, advocating for more resources and help by campaigning to be the first people ever to be recognized on the Endangered Species List. The campaign kick started an avalanche of press and debate, garnering a 295% increase in conversation and half a billion impressions, which forced an important conversation.
