FCB Health Honored with Awareness Award at the 2017 COPD Foundation's Annual Awards Ceremony
The COPD Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to curing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), has honored FCB Health network with the COPD Awareness Award. Honorees selected have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the COPD Foundation’s mission of preventing and curing the disease and improving the lives of all those affected. The COPD Annual Awards Celebration was held on November 2, 2017, at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.
The Foundation drives its mission through research, education and advocacy programs that will lead to prevention and, someday, a cure for this disease. The ceremony, hosted by COPD Foundation Board Chairman Dr. Byron Thomashow, pays tribute to individuals and organizations whose work has paved the way for COPD advocacy, research and community building in 2017.
“We reached a number of critical milestones: the launch of the first-ever COPD National Action Plan with NIH, the growth of our patient-led COPD Patient-Powered Research Network and COPD360social platforms, the expansion of our global initiatives, and so much more,” said Craig Kephart, CEO of the COPD Foundation. “As the year comes to a close, we want to emphasize our commitment to raising the patient voice in all arenas – whether it is research, advocacy or care delivery. We are proud to serve as the link between the various COPD community stakeholders, and we look forward to increasing the dialogue and deepening our collaborations as we advance our mission into the future.”
Honorees recognized at the Annual Awards include:
- COPD Awareness Award: FCB Health
- COPD Advocacy Award: Karen Deitemeyer
- John W. Walsh Visionary Award: Gerard M. Turino, M.D.
- Champion for COPD Award: Constance J. Milstein
As an advocate for COPD awareness, FCB Health was also recently honored with gold awards in the Branded Consumer Websites and Product Launch categories at the 2017 MM&M Awards for their work with Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) for Stiolto Respimat, an inhalation spray used in the treatment of COPD. The FCB Health team’s insight-driven creative work effectively conveyed the relief Stiolto’s treatment can give patients living with the chronic illness.
“FCB has long sought to provide our clients with insight-based, highly creative advertising focused on driving the success of their brands and products. And now to be able to do this for such a worthy cause as COPD is really an honor,” said Brendan Ryan, former CEO of FCB Worldwide.
Awardees come from the COPD patient and healthcare communities, media, research and policy/advocacy fields. The COPD Awareness Award recognizes individuals and organizations who have lent their creative and strategic assets to the COPD community in an effort to raise the public profile of the largely invisible disease.
