FCB Health Europe Names Joerg Hempelmann Its First-Ever President
Industry veteran will spearhead FCB Health’s European engagement, offerings and expansion
FCB Health President and CEO Dana Maiman announced today that industry veteran and longtime IPG partner Joerg Hempelmann will be the first President of FCB Health Europe.
In this newly created role, Hempelmann will create a global business model to efficiently serve clients and, as a result, will enable FCB Health to attract the best talent worldwide.He will also direct all European operations, including overseeing ICC – one of the two full-service, UK-based healthcare agencies, the other being FCB Halesway. Both UK-based agencies are known for developing innovative solutions to current healthcare challenges.
As a longtime member of the Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) family, Hempelmann has previously worked closely with FCB Health leadership.

Hempelmann’s new position will facilitate the highest-quality and most efficient healthcare communication solutions for FCB Health’s clients.Moreover, Hempelmann will expand the network’s multichannel agencies, focusing on growing clients and brands. He will provide an integrated team approach, and will enhance payer strategy, medical education, digital marketing efforts and video production offerings, as well as strategic planning and media services.
Most recently, Hempelmann served as CEO and Managing Partner of McCann Health Germany. Throughout his career, he has serviced leading clients, including Bayer, Sanofi, Novartis, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. A true leader, in 1994, Hempelmann founded JNB as a purely healthcare communications agency near Frankfurt, Germany, and built additional healthcare-related services such as sales forces (GPs, specialists, pharmacists) and healthcare websites and platforms (www.gesundheit.de); JNB also distributed its own proprietary healthcare brands. By 2010, JNB’s health group boasted more than 150 people, and in 2011, to grow his business, Hempelmann sold his agency to the IPG network, which transformed it into a multicultural, multinational communications & consultancy platform. He was able to retain many clients, based on his mission: “Act honestly, communicate vastly.”
Hemplemann’s position will meaningfully amplify FCB Health’s open architecture, enabling the agency to bring people together from all over the world, wherever they are. This will allow the network to boldly work in tandem to meet the needs of global clients.
