Draftfcb Healthcare, Rebranded FCB Health, Acquires UK's Halesway
Building Strategic European Presence to Serve Global Clients
Draftfcb Healthcare rebranded today as FCB Health announced it is acquiring Halesway, a leading healthcare agency headquartered in the UK.
This is the first international acquisition for FCB Health (formerly Draftfcb Healthcare) and represents a significant step in building its presence in Europe, providing further service to its global clients.
Halesway, with approximately 45 employees, is 100% healthcare focused. It specializes in seamlessly integrated digital and traditional media campaigns, creatively executed. It provides service across a wide range of pharmceuticals, medical devices and OTC products, with target audiences including healthcare professionals, patients, pharmacists, sales teams and general consumers. Its blue-chip client roster includes Abbott, Baxter, Boehringer Ingelheim, Hospira, MSD, Novartis, Reckitt Benckiser and Smith & Nephew.
"The acquisition of Halesway is part of our long-term plan to build our resources around the world," said Dana Maiman, president and CEO of FCB Health. "It is UK based, with in-house teams of designers, writers and digital experts who serve clients locally, across Europe and beyond. Our joining together further enhances our ability to deliver targeted, high-impact, results-oriented campaigns for our growing list of global clients."
FCB Health, which represents 17 of the Top 20 healthcare providers and for the 4th straight year recently received the prestigious "Most Creative Agency Award" from Med Ad News has more than 30 years of experience marketing to healthcare professionals, patients and consumers. The agency network's client roster includes Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, J&J, Lilly, Novartis, Thermo Fisher and Teva.
"We were absolutely thrilled when we first met Halesway," said Maiman. "It's an agency with an enviable client roster and a coveted reputation as a top-notch creative, strategic agency. Two of our biggest clients are shared and our core capabilities are complementary, so we totally augment each other's offerings. Moreover, recent collaborative efforts (over the past year) have illustrated that Halesway people have our same passion for excellence and same commitment to doing the right thing for clients and their brands and for each other."
Liz Rawlingson, founder and managing director of Halesway, said: "The growing demand for pan-European and global campaigns for our clients is only one of the reasons behind this partnership. Being part of FCB Health will allow us to take Halesway to new heights and, in turn, we will be able to provide them with a strong and innovative hub for their new expansion into Europe. We have been astounded by the cultural alignment between us and look forward to the future of our combined organization with enormous enthusiasm."
Rawlingson founded Halesway in 1993, calling it after her family home, which her parents named after a combination of their birthplaces (Halesworth in Suffolk and Holloway in Derbyshire). The agency is located in Andover, an hour outside of London.
Halesway will continue to be led by its current management: Liz Rawlingson, founder & president; Niki Crossley, promoted to managing director commercial; and Neil Padgett, promoted to managing director creative. Its management will report to FCB Health CEO Maiman; Padgett will report to Rich Levy, FCB Health chief creative officer.
As the rebranding of Draftfcb goes forward, Draftfcb Healthcare will be known as FCB Health; Halesway will be known as Halesway, an FCB Health Company. Draftfcb Healthcare was part of Draftfcb, the global marketing communications network that today announced it is rebranded as FCB (Foote, Cone & Belding). Draftfcb is part of the Interpublic Group of Companies (NYSE:IPG).
The acquisition is effective immediately, with a smooth transition expected over the next 90 days. Financial details are not being disclosed.
