Press Release - New York, 07 May 2016

New York, May 6, 2016 – Award-winning healthcare agency Area 23, an FCB Health Company, strengthens its creative team with the addition of Bernardo Romero, who joins the team as VP, creative director.

Romero will report to Tim Hawkey, managing director, executive creative director, who said: "We're very proud to have Bernardo on our team. He’s a great creative, the quality of his work is second to none and he shares our ambition for transforming healthcare advertising."

Romero, originally from Rio de Janeiro, has over a decade of experience working on brands like Coca-Cola, Mitsubishi Motors, Gatorade, Nissan, Adidas and Budweiser. Before joining Area 23, Romero was creative director at Africa in Sao Paulo, where he oversaw the ESPN and Grendene accounts and helped lead the team that won 13 Cannes Lions in 2015.

He has personally collected five Cannes Lions and dozens of other prestigious international awards, including Clios and One Show Pencils for his breakthrough work. In 2015, Romero was named No. 1 Art Director in the world by Luerzer’s Archive.

“All of my ideas – the work that I do – is about helping change people’s lives by changing their behavior for the better. The opportunity to work directly with healthcare brands is extremely exciting for me,” Romero says about his choice to work in healthcare. “Area 23 is on the cutting edge of healthcare advertising. They are transforming the industry. It was an easy decision."
